Installed Client Keyboard Characteristics

Native IME Compatibility

The Installed Client is generally compatible with the native operating system's Input Method (IME) options

Virtual Keyboard Functionality

Full virtual keyboard functionality is available in the Installed Client. You may use the virtual keyboard to switch the physical keyboard's input (i.e. keyboard remapping), and use the on-screen keyboard to type in different languages

Keyboard Languages such as Mandarin and Korean are not available through the virtual on-screen keyboard settings

Physical Foreign Keyboard Compatibility

Physical foreign keyboards are generally supported. We recommend changing the virtual keyboard settings to match the physical keyboard being used.

Please refer to the screenshot below for an example of how to change the virtual keyboard settings. Making a language change here will remap the end-user's keyboard settings

Web Client Keyboard Characteristics

Native IME Compatibility

The Web Client is compatible with the native operating system's Input Method (IME) options. However, the Web Client utilizes an IME widget pop-up that is displayed near the Toolbar menu

Shortcuts
  • To open widget within the Web Client: Ctrl + Shift + H
  • To toggle Keyboard User: Ctrl + Shift + Comma
  • To toggle Keyboard Visibility: Ctrl + Shift + Period

Summary of Functional and Capability Differences
Both client versions support virtual and native keyboards. The Installed Client works better with physical foreign keyboards out of the box. Whereas, the Web Client needs manual virtual keyboard configuration, and utilizes an Input Method widget for native input
