Introduction
Authentic8's Cloud Secure Storage extends Silo's feature set by allowing end-users to store data either temporarily or permanently. This data can be for personal use, or as a collaboration space where multiple end-users can share files in various ways
With Authentic8's Cloud Secure Storage, end-users can interact with a common storage layer from either Silo or Toolbox. The built-in viewers in Silo and Toolbox enable end-users to view documents, and listen to multimedia files directly within the respective storage containers
Technical Details
Both Silo and Toolbox natively support rendering of certain file types, allowing end-users to view or listen to these files without needing to download them to the local environment. End-users will need to download these files to the Cloud Secure Storage, and double-click the file to view the document
Supported file types include:
- Productivity Documents
- Word
- Powerpoint
- Excel
- Text/HTML
- MP4
Example Open a Supported File Scenario
An end-user receives an Office document as an email attachment, and uses the Cloud Secure Storage to open the document
Steps
1. Download the file to Temporary Storage and click Save
2. Click the Cloud Storage icon from the toolbar, followed by the Silo Drive button
3. Locate the file in the Temporary Drive container, and double-click the file to open
More Info: Some mail clients and applications have their own built-in viewers and rendering engines. In these cases, you generally have the option to view the file using the application's rendering engine or download the file and view it using Silo's viewers
