System Requirements

Access to the Silo Installed Client and/or Web Client

How does Silo Direct Launch work?

The default local web browser commonly registers itself as the primary handler for http:// and https:// requests. This registration allow end-users to open a web hyperlink in the local web browser

Silo Direct Launch follows a similar process, where the Silo Installed Client registers itself as the handler for both a8:// and a8s:// formatted URLs, and the launch# URL parameter is processed in the Web Client

For example:

Silo Direct Launch links can be accessed from a variety of starting points:

entered directly into a local browser's navigation bar

            local browser bookmarks

embedded in email messages and documents

            published as an A8-formatted hyperlink

Non-secure and Secure Web Requests

Similar to http and https, a8 and a8s are used to specify whether the web request should be handled as non-secure (a8) or secure (a8s)

For the Web Client, the launch# parameter can handle either http or https designation

Some Google products (e.g., Gmail, Google Docs), as well as Office365 may not recognize non-HTTP tags for hyperlink encoding   your experience may vary as shown in the table below:
