Introduction

The Isolation Bypass feature enables Silo Administrators to designate specific websites to launch in the end-user's local browser rather than within the Silo for Safe Access environment. This is particularly useful for websites that require interaction with local browser features, or for plugins not available in Silo

Prerequisite

  •     A Silo Administrator with Policies permission or higher

Best Practices

  • Only use the Bypass List functionality
    • The Isolation Bypass policy has two configurations: Bypass List and Isolate List. Unless advised by Authentic8 personnel, only utilize the Bypass List feature when configuring this policy

  • Default Behavior
    • If neither list is populated, the system will automatically isolate the first domain visited during the session, and then bypass isolation for all other domains. The first domain can apply to a qualifying homepage URL

Steps

  1. Launch the Silo Admin Console
    • Navigate to Policies > Browser Settings > Isolation Bypass

  2. Configure the Bypass List
    • Bypass List: Enter the domains that you wish to bypass Silo's isolation. Any domain listed in the table will launch in the end-user's default browser rather than within Silo for Safe Access

  3. Save Configuration
    • Once you’ve configured your list, click Save to apply the changes. The change will take effect after starting a new Silo session

Recommendation

  • Regularly review and update your Bypass List to ensure it meets your organization's security and operational needs
  • Assess any security implications of bypassing isolation for specific domains, as this will expose end-users to the normal risks associated with browsing without isolation
