Overview

This policy allows Admins to control transfer to and from the user’s device, Silo Storage, the web, or external file transfer over HTTPS.

Silo Storage

Users can store data either temporarily or permanently in Authentic8 Cloud Secure Storage.  This data can either be for personal use or the data store can be set up as a collaboration space where many users can share the same files in a variety of ways.  For more information about storage see
Authentic8 Secure Cloud Storage

External File Transfer
The External File Transfer feature gives the Admin the capability to route file transfer traffic over HTTPS. Only use this feature if you are required to inspect HTTP traffic for file transfers to and from the client device.

Note: Currently, External File Transfer is available only for Windows clients.

Configure the File Upload/Download in the Admin Console

1.    From the Admin Console, click Advanced drop-down arrow
2.    Click Data Transfer drop-down arrow

3.   Click the File Upload/Download Edit button. This page displays. This policy allows Admins to control transfer to and from the user’s device, Silo Storage, the web, or external file transfer over HTTPS.

  • For File transfers to and from user devices, the default is “Enabled for trusted devices only”.
  • For File transfers to and from Silo Cloud Storage, the default is “Enabled”.
  • Admins can configure whether users can transfer files between their device, Silo Cloud Storage, and the web.

Note: Be careful when configuring each of these. Certain configurations can result in one policy undermining another.

The External File Transfer feature gives the Admin the capability to route file transfer traffic over HTTPS. Only use this feature if you are required to inspect HTTP traffic for file transfers to and from the client device.  The External File Transfer hover box, shown in the screenshot below, appears when your mouse rolls over the  icon.

When you click the checkbox for External File Transfer, a pop-up Warning appears. Click the Confirm button to proceed.
